[Bug] Starting WinVICE, it crashes with version 1.13 on Windows
The information in this article applies to the following versions of VICE:
- VICE version 1.13 on Windows plattforms
SYMPTOMS
You have selected a joystick driver and saved the settings. After restarting VICE, it immediately crashes.
CAUSE
There is a bug in VICE handling saved joystick settings.
SOLUTION
If you downloaded your WinVICE version after October 1, 2003, you already do have the bugfix release of WinVICE. Anyway, to be sure, open the "About" dialogue and look at the version number: If it tells 1.13, you have the buggy version, if it tells 1.13a, you already have the fixed one.
If you want to upgrade, use the bugfix release WinVICE 1.13a.
The sources for 1.13a are not available separately; anywhere, you can patch 1.13 to 1.13a with the following patch.
STATUS
The VICE team has confirmed this to be a bug in the VICE versions listed at the beginning of this article. It is fixed in the bugfix release 1.13a and subsequent versions.
