[Bug] Using stereo SID support, WinVICE shuts down

The information in this article applies to the following versions of VICE:

SYMPTOMS

If you enable stereo SID support with any emulator that supports this the emulator is shut down either silently or with an access violation.

CAUSE

It's a bug in both WinVICE sound drivers.

SOLUTION

Use another version of the VICE emulator if you need to use stereo SID support on Windows.

STATUS

The VICE team has confirmed this to be a problem in the VICE versions listed at the beginning of this article. It has been corrected in all subsequent versions
