[Bug] Using NTSC on x128, the entire system freezes
The information in this article applies to the following versions of VICE:
- VICE version 1.8 for all plattforms
SYMPTOMS
If you change the video standard of x128 from PAL to NTSC or run the system with NTSC, chances are likely that the entire system freezes and the only way to recover is to power down or hard reset your PC, or it might show other, erroneously behaviour.
CAUSE
There is a hard coded last line limit on the VDC setup which does not handle the NTSC case correctly.
SOLUTION
Use another version of the VICE emulator if you need to use NTSC support with x128 on Windows.
STATUS
The VICE team has confirmed this to be a problem in the VICE versions listed at the beginning of this article. It has been corrected in all subsequent versions
