[Bug] VICE monitor freezes when assembling invalid commands

The information in this article applies to the following versions of VICE:

version 1.7 on all plattforms

SYMPTOMS

When you try to assemble an invalid command inside of the VICE monitor, you don't get an error message but the monitor freezes. The only way to quit is to exit the emulator.

CAUSE

A loop with an erroneous condition is the cause of this problem.

SOLUTION

Use another version of the VICE emulator if you need to use the assemble command inside the VICE monitor.

STATUS

The VICE team has confirmed this to be a problem in the VICE versions listed at the beginning of this article. It has been corrected in all subsequent versions
