[Info] WinVICE mouse does not work on VMWare
The information in this article applies to the following versions of VICE:
- all Windows versions running on VMWare
SYMPTOMS
If you run WinVICE on VMWare, your emulated 1351 mouse does not behave as expected. It just jumps around, but does not follow your directions.
This only applies if the VMWare tools are installed.
CAUSE
There is some problem with the VMWare mouse driver as installed with the VMWare tools. For more information, have a look at the VMWare knowledge base, FAQID 42: Mouse Tracking Problems after Installing VMware Tools.
SOLUTION
Either don't run WinVICE inside of a VMWare virtual machine. Otherwise, remove the VMWare mouse driver and replace it with a generic one. You can find instructions on doing this in the VMWare knowledge base, FAQID 42: Mouse Tracking Problems after Installing VMware Tools.
STATUS
This document is for information purpose only. The behaviour reported is not related to VICE, but a problem in 3rd party software.
