SYMPTOMS
When trying to start an emulator, you get the error message "Cannot lock temporary surface: Access to surface refused (no DCI provider)".
CAUSE
For WinVICE to be able to display all colors, it needs at least graphic modes with at least 16 bits. When run with less than 16 bit color depth, the aforementioned error message appears.
SOLUTION
Change your color depth to at least 16 bit (65536 colors); we recommand 24 bit (16 million collors) or 32 bit.
