[Info] Compiling VICE with MPEG support fails

The information in this article applies to the following versions of VICE:

all versions of VICE where MPEG support is available

PROBLEMEXPOSITION

If you try to compile VICE with ffmpeg support, it may fail to compile.

CAUSE

VICE requires a specific ffmpeg library in each version. It will not build with other versions of the library, as the inner working and the API keep changing. version 0.4.8

SOLUTION

Install the ffmpeg library in version 0.4.8 for VICE 1.14 up to 1.16, version 0.4.9 (tested with pre1) for VICE 1.17 up to 1.20, and version 0.5.1 for VICE 1.21.
