[Info] In some demos and games, VICE does not display some lines at the top/bottom of the screen

- all versions
SYMPTOMS
Looking at the VICE output of some demos and/or games, you notice that there are lines at the top or at the bottom of the screen which can are displayed on a real machine, but not on VICE.
NOTE
This only happens to programs which "open" the border for displaying something.
CAUSE
This is a feature. There is no definite last line as every TV set has a different one. We have chosen a compromise. The screen could be extended, but then programs written on a TV screen showing fewer lines could show garbage at the bottom, because the programmer has never seen them.
Probably we will have some settings to adjust such things in the future, but don't hold your breath.
SOLUTION
None yet.
STATUS
This document is for information purpose only. The behaviour reported is intentional in the VICE versions listed at the beginning of this article.
