PROBLEMEXPOSITION

Whenever you start x128, there's not only one window, but two windows simultaneously.

This behaviour is intentionally. The C128 has two video chips, one for 40 column screen driving some TV or monitor and one for 80 column screen driving a monitor only. Both can be active at the same time. To switch to 80 column mode, press F7 and issue a reset. If you do not need the VDC window, just minimize it.
